Maddie's experience working with children started when she worked as an EA in a primary school in Hong Kong. Alongside her full-time job at the school, she also coached girls' rugby at Hong Kong Football Club. In both environments, she learned numerous skills and strategies to help foster child development and learning. It was during this time she discovered her true passion for teaching and wanted to take it further.
The path to becoming a qualified classroom teacher seemed daunting, especially as her father was battling cancer at the time. During this difficult time, Maddie sought help and discovered that yoga (a regular practice of hers already) was providing much-needed clarity and calm. Still wanting to pursue teaching kids, she signed up for the Gecko Yoga Children’s Yoga Teacher Training in 2019. Later that year her father died but she still followed her dream, left her job at the school, did her 200-hr adult yoga teaching certification and became a full-time yoga teacher. She is now back at that same school teaching yoga to the students as part of the curriculum!
Maddie firmly believes that learning should be accessible and adapted to the individual student and takes a play-based approach in all that she teaches. She is passionate about providing a safe space for children to explore movement and meditation through age-appropriate activities or games. With over a decade of experience working with children, her approach to teaching kids is to make things fun and engaging, and to let every child feel heard and seen.

Private yoga classes in your home for teens aged 13 to 18.
The teenage years are a very challenging time. There are big developmental changes in the body and mind. In addition, there is increased pressure at school both academically and socially.
With the added social pressure from social media and smartphone use, it's important to give teens the tools of mindfulness to use on and off the mat. Something they can keep in their "back pocket" to help regulate their emotions and anxiety when faced with challenges.
The focus is on resting, reflecting and inner strength and resilience.
Classes themes include balance, reflection, relationships & connection, cultivating calm and positive affirmations for self-esteem.
